Howey Politics Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS - Howey Politics Indiana has observed that Mike Pence probably couldn’t win a presidential primary in Indiana against Donald Trump. Now Pence and his campaign are fanning out to meet and talk with Hoosiers. Former chief of staff Marc Short will do a Q&A with Vigo County Republican Chairman Randy Gentry next Tuesday in Terre Haute. Pence will be in Evansville later this week, coming as a special guest at the annual banquet of Right to Life of Southwest Indiana. The banquet is at 7 p.m. (CT) Thursday night at the Old National Events Plaza. In October, Pence will keynote the Allen County Republican Reagan Bean Dinner. While Indiana Republicans skewered U.S. Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg's return to French Lick on Friday saying he was "back ... in Indiana" (leaving out "home," which is now in Traverse City, Mich.) the difference between the presidentially ambitious Buttigieg and Pence is that the former could easily win an Indiana presidential primary in Indiana.
