Illinois Gov. Quinn to veto gambling bill
8/28/2012 9:50:00 AM
CHICAGO - Illlinois Gov. Pat Quinn today plans to veto a major gambling expansion plan that would have allowed five new casinos, including one in Chicago, according to a source familiar with the governor's decision, the Chicago Tribune is reporting.
The five Illinois casinos were seen as a significant threat to Indiana's casino industry in the Northwest Region. Indiana has seen its gaming revenues - one of the key revenue streams for the state - remain static as gaming expansion took place in Michigan and Ohio.
