Gov. Pence Cuts Taxes
Gov. Mike Pence talks to the press after making an appeal for a 10% income tax cut to the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce in April 2013. Pence compromised with legislative Republican leaders for a 5% income tax cut, along with an expedited repeal of the state's inheritance tax, and cuts to corporate and financial institution taxes. Pence hailed it as the largest tax cut in Indiana history and intends to match a pitch for jobs in the Midwest's lowest taxed state. Gov. Pence inherited an 8% jobless rate and after six months in office, it had increased to 8.4%.
